چکیده

Following the work of Austgen et al., the electrolyte nonrandom-two-liquid (NRTL) model was applied in a thermodynamically consistent manner to represent the vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) of the aqueous monoethanolamine (MEA)-CO2 system with rigorous chemical equilibrium consideration. Special attention was given to the accurate VLE description of the system at both absorbing and stripping conditions relevant to most aqueous MEA absorption/stripping processes for CO2 removal. The influence from chemical equilibrium constants, Henry’s constant, experimental data, and data regression on the representation of the VLE of the system was discussed in detail. The equilibrium constant of the carbamate reversion reaction as well as important interaction parameters of the electrolyte NRTL model were carefully fitted to experimental data. A good agreement between the calculated values and the experimental data was achieved. Moreover, the model with newly fitted parameters was successfully applied to simulate three industrial cases for CO2 removal using a rate-based approach. The results from this work were compared with those using the model by Austgen et al.

Modeling of liquid–liquid equilibria of aqueous alcohol + salt systems using amodified NRTL

The modified NRTL (m-NRTL) model is used to represent the excess Gibbs free energy of aqueous (alcohol + electrolyte) solutions. In this work, the m-NRTL model previously developed for representation of vapor-liquid equilibria for (polymer + salt + water) systems has been extended to represent liquid-liquid equilibria of (alcohol + salt + water) systems. The proposed extension is a modified of ...

Thermodynamic Modeling for CO2 Absorption in Aqueous MDEA Solution with Electrolyte NRTL Model

Accurate modeling of thermodynamic properties for CO2 absorption in aqueous alkanolamine solutions is essential for the simulation and design of such CO2 capture processes. In this study, we use the Electrolyte Nonrandom Two-Liquid activity coefficient model to develop a rigorous and thermodynamically consistent representation for the MDEA-H2O-CO2 system. The vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE), hea...

Investigating the Solubility of CO2 in the Solution of Aqueous K2CO3 Using Wilson-NRF Model

Hot potassium carbonate (PC) solution in comparison with amine solution had a decreased energy of regeneration and a high chemical solubility of . To present vapor and liquid equation (VLE) of this system and predict  solubility, the ion specific non-electrolyte Wilson-NRF local composition model (isNWN) was used in this study; the framework of this model was molecular. Therefore, it was suitab...

Estimation of UNIQUAC-NRF Model Parameters for NH3-CO2-H2O System

Vapor-liquid equilibrium in NH3-CO2-H2O system at high pressures has been studied. The UNIQUAC-NRF model for this system was extended by using the Goppert 4 maurer reported datas. Since the system contains molecules and ionic species the binary interaction parameters considered, where those are of molecule-molecule, molecule-ion and ion-ion types. These interaction parameters are taken as c...
